We travelled to Walsall for our final ever league match playing as this team in this division. Nikoli our board 1 signed off in style with a win that was never in doubt after his opponent had to give his Queen up during the middle game. Myself playing my last ever league match got trounced by one of their new ungraded players. Not the ending I was hoping for. Bill got a comfortable win on board 4, while Matt had a cagey affair on board 2 and was unfortunate in the endgame. So

The final result was 4-0 to the home side, but the emphatic victory didn't quite tell the full story. We welcomed West Brom to our club with expectations of another tough match. Nik managed a fantastic draw from a losing position on board 1. Despite piling on the pressure on board 2, Matt miscalculated and lost a rook which proved costly. I had a fairly straight foward draw on board 3, with many of the pieces being swapped off early. Bill also achieved a draw on board 4 early on, noting there was nothing of interest happening. So we lost the match 2.5 - 1.5 but on another day
